Our Elisabethszell is located in Straubing-Bogen county. It has been well-known and popular by many holidaymakers and day trippers for a long time. Already in the 60's of the 20th century,
a lot of guests came to us because of the wonderful position, the hilly landscape of the front Bavarian forest and the closeness to the Gäuboden town Straubing. The wonderful, varied nature and
our hospitality have been appreciated far beyond the village borders.
The Bavarian forest is still original and offers a lot of options to stop, for comfortable walks and for leisure activities. Ambitious sportsmen and sportswomen will be delighted by many
landscaping challenges around the village and the surrounding.
The Bavarian tradition is still especially looked after - therefore it is really lived. You can feel that at many traditional feasts and events at us „Eschpernzeller“ - as we call as in loving
and proud way. Hence we show our connection to our lower Bavarian home.
We are looking forward to welcome you!
The history of the village should be introduced to the visitors and the events of the recent past should stay in memory. Guests and tourists who visit our village get a glance in history.
Experience the flora and fauna at a walk through the nature trail.
The task force „Lebenswertes Elisabethszell“ (worth living Elisabethszell) has created the Pfarrgarten“ (parish garden) and has accomplished a place of reflection, tranquillity and to recharge
one's battery. Glass boards show the history of creation and present appropriate texts that remind us to protect our earth.
Shady trees, body-shaped and turnable sun lounger for relaxation and benches invite you to stay.
A wooden sculpture of the Holy Franz of Assisi and an animal sculpture are impressively integrated in this special location.
The club „Lebenswertes Elisabethszell e.V.“ (worth living Elisabethszell) has diged out a piece of history of the village – in the truest sense of the word. For some time it has been opened to
the public.
The already forgotten ice cellar which has existed for some centuries was uncovered with a lot of efforts and has been equipped with corresponding requisites.
Ice which was taken in wintertime for cooling beer was stored here. Also beer for taverns and inns was stocked in this ice cellar.
… always an unforgettable highlight not only for our guests. The so-called Rauhnacht ended with a scary and beautiful fire and dancing spectacle. A special big thank you to the „Auwald-Deifln“ for the great show. Even more wonderful and more brilliant than ever before.
On May 1st the „Maibaum“ (May tree) is traditionally set up in Elisabethszell. As always it is a great event to start into the month May. The „Felsstoana“ with their music for brass instruments and the traditional costume club received a lot of applause by the numerous audience. Traditional costume clubs from the neighborhoods enthrall the visitors with dances and the so-called „Goaslschnoitzern“ (specially rhythmic hitting with whips).
